Cohorts

Valley Transitional High School Alternative Programming has three cohorts for students— Psi: Underclassmen Academy, Delta, and Vocational (Voc). Each cohort operates full capacity with 3 teachers and 1 social worker. Students have access to support staff like BCBA, SLP, OT, PT and more.

Psi: Underclassmen Academy develops the skills that will be necessary as upperclassmen. Students have access to rotating academic classes, vocational experiences, volunteer opportunities, social skill groups, reading support, clubs, hikes, field trips and more. The ultimate goal is for students to develop a clear post-secondary vision, which will be supported by the upperclassmen cohorts, Delta and Voc.

Delta: Students challenge their academic potential in support of a post-secondary vision that may include a 2-4 year college program, or some learning opportunity after high school. Students have access to dual enrollment opportunities at TEC Connections Academy and Middlesex Community College to challenge their academic potential. Students also explore transitional opportunities, like college tours and other unique trips that help inform post-secondary options.

Voc: Students participate in academics and vocational opportunities, both in-house and out in the community, as they work on the skills necessary to transition into the workforce after high school. The Voc currently offers four in-house shops: landscaping, multimedia, culinary and furniture restoration. Students have the opportunity to earn a motivational stipend, hold an internship at a community job site, participate in Dual Enrollment at the Peterson School, and more.
